Julie Wilkinson (MCSP)
Chartered Physiotherapist
Julie graduated in 2000 from Sheffield Hallam University and completed her basic grade rotations at Barnsley District Hospital. After 18 months, Julie took some time off to travel around Australia and on returning relocated to Newcastle upon Tyne where she took a musculoskeletal post with a private physiotherapy company. She ran clinics within GP surgeries and it was here, up in the north east, where Julie was introduced to work in an Occupational Health setting, and where she was also given the opportunity to work with Northumbria and Durham University rubgy teams. It was in Newcastle that Julie met her future husband and she returned to Sheffield in 2004.
For 12 months Julie took a locum post with Rotherham Primary Care Trust, working with musculoskeletal disorders and also started some evening work in the private sector.
In 2005 Julie joined The Physios and now works full-time at the practice. Julie has kept her hand in with Occupational Therapy work and regularly undertakes Display Screen Equipment and work place assessments.
Julie has a special interest in Pilates (qualified to teach Pilates, including pre and post natal Pilates accredited by the APPI - Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) and issues relating to women's health and musculoskeletal problems, particulary in the childbearing year.
Julie is also qualified to administer acupuncture for musculoskeletal conditions, as recognised by the AACP (Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotheapists).
Recently married, Julie is now enjoying married life but to wind down enjoys running and Pilates.
