About Us
Paul Hattam established the practice in 1993, treating patients from home on a part-time basis whilst continuing to work within the NHS. The practice flourished and a move in 1996 to Taptonville House in Broomhill was 'home' for 12 years. During this time the practice continued to grow and the need for larger premises became necessary. The move to our current premises was made in July 2008 which provided more consulting rooms, a welcoming reception/waiting area and a dedicated on-site car park for patients. In addition, the new location positioned us perfectly - close to excellent transport links and immediately adjacent to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
Since the practice started, The Physios have enjoyed an enviable reputation among patients and doctors for expert and accurate assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Our clinicians are all experienced (we require all physios to be at least 5 years post qualification as well as showing a strong commitment to post-graduate training) and have not only developed areas of particular interest and expertise but several members of the team also teach locally and further afield. Professional development within the practice has always been a priority and the team meets regularly for training as well as attending external courses elsewhere. Paul Hattam has also involved the practice in a number of high profile research projects such as UK BEAM (1999) and WorkCare (2004/5) as well as undertaking his own research and writing a clinical textbook for doctors and physiotherapists.
Our physiotherapists are registered with the following professional organisations.
