Meet…
Paul Hattam MSc, MCSP, FSOM

Principal Physiotherapist & Director

Paul leads the team at The Physios and is passionate about seeing people benefit from the discipline of physiotherapy. “Physiotherapy has so much to offer – relief of pain and improved quality of life whatever your age or job or level of fitness – and we’ve encapsulated this in our for every body tag line”. He is serious about delivering the best possible care too, ensuring all members of the team are very experienced clinicians and great people.

His own professional journey started in 1986 after graduating at Kings, London. Paul quickly developed an interest in treating the moving parts of the body (the musculoskeletal system) and further studies and training led to a Fellowship award in 1991 qualifying him to tutor on post-graduate courses and MSc programmes for doctors and physiotherapists. His teaching interests have subsequently taken him all over the UK, Spain, Italy and the USA. Paul worked for many years in the NHS and was one of the first physiotherapists to be appointed as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist. He has been involved in a number of government funded research projects (UKBEAM, WorkCare) as well as conducting his own study as part of his MSc. In 2010 Paul’s first book was published by Elsevier, since when it has enjoyed healthy sales and reviews. Despite his varied schedule Paul considers his clinical work to
be of utmost importance. “I feel that balancing my clinical work, teaching commitments and responding to the demands of a developing practice is an ideal way of staying on top” says Paul. “Mixing with other physiotherapists and doctors is always stimulating and I think that the days away from the practice ensure that I stay up to date and invigorated.”
