The Physios Academy is a unique resource providing not only education but a mentorship programme with the aim to inspire the next generation of physios to provide ‘gold standard’ care.
The Physios Academy is aimed at recently qualified physiotherapists with a keen interest in musculoskeletal conditions. Delivered over 12 months by the experienced clinicians at The Physios Sheffield, these 4 educational sessions aim to provide a comprehensive assessment process which develops effective treatment options. We frame this within critical evaluation and best evidence based practice and as part of a robust clinical reasoning process.
Mentorship is the most important part of our year together and runs alongside the educational sessions. You will be assigned a personal mentor to meet up with regularly for advice, to revise any of the teaching, to discuss any problem cases or just to have a beer. You will also be invited to an online community where we regularly post additional resources and the opportunity for peer led discussion.
Am I eligibility?
If you are a newly qualified physiotherapist with a keen interest in MSK conditions then you are eligible! However, we have found that there is much more benefit to our year together if you have current or recent MSK experience to draw on. Ideally you will have the opportunity to practice the techniques and principles in-between the sessions either through a current MSK placement or voluntary role (for example, a local sports club).
Generally the eligibility criteria includes:
✅ BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy
✅ a keen interest in musculoskeletal conditions
✅ at least 6 months MSK experience (i.e. completed your first MSK rotation) or current MSK placement
✅ availability to commit to all 4 educational sessions throughout the year
Should you have any questions about The Academy or how to apply, just get in touch.
How to apply?
We are aware that you may not have made firm plans beyond university yet and you may not know when your MSK rotations will come around. For now just declare you interest using the form below and we will be in touch later in the year regarding the application process.
